Vermont Heritage Songbook
Here is a collection of 40 songs about Vermont's rich history, written by Margaret MacArthur with the collaboration of school children around the state.

The songs highlight local events, personalities, and legends that students in the 24 participating schools researched as part of their oral history projects. Also included are 2 traditional songs, Cambric Shirt, Child 2, Flanders Collection, and The Central Vermont Railroad Tragedy, MacArthur Collection.

Vermont Heritage Songs (cs and CD) features Margaret MacArthur with Family Band. Many of the songs feature dulcimer accompaniment. The children's chorus includes grandchildren Brennan and Hillary MacArthur, and neighbor grandchildren Molly and Edith Gawlor.Topics include sugaring time, one room schools, and life on the farm, as well as historical events of yesterday and today. Produced in cooperation with the Vermont Folklife Center, the leading authority on Vermont's folk traditions. This is a project that could serve as a model for similar efforts in every region  Carrie Crompton, Dulcimer Players News.
